Madelynn's 4 month check up

Madelynn had her four month check up last week on Friday. It was fun to find out her stats. She weighs 16 lbs 1 oz and is 26.5 inches tall. When Hayden was 4 months old he weighed 16 lbs 1.5 oz and was 26 inches tall. Pretty close to the same, kind of scary. She also got her shots and did wonderfully only cried a little. Maybe she will take after Hayden, he never really cried either.

She is more determined than ever to try to learn to sit up. It is fun to watch her practice in her bouncy chair. She grabs hold of the toys on the bar and really does try to sit up. She loves the exersaucer that a friend of mine loaned us. We have one but it is taller than most so Hayden had a hard time using it till he was a little older. Thanks Danielle and family for the exersaucer, she loves it!

Soon we will start her on some rice cereal, she isn't quite ready but she thinks she is. She loves to watch us eat. We brought up the high chair about a month ago as she just didn't think it was fair that she couldn't see what was going on at the dinner table.

Hayden today said he can't wait till Maddy grows up. He informed me that he thought after Christmas she will be grown up and then they can play together. He told me then I won't need to play with him b/c he and Maddy will be busy playing. He already loves to interact with her in the exersaucer. She's lucky to have such a fun big brother.

What a Thanksgiving

Yes while I realize Thanksgiving was awhile ago now, it has taken me this long to get to blogging about it. Our Thanksgiving wasn't exactly how we had hoped it would go. It all started out good, left the Saturday before and visited with Grandma and Grandpa Banas on Sunday. We should have known then when Madelynn just wasn't herself that something was amiss. Monday morning is when it struck poor Maddy first. She was all smiles until she threw up at I think 7am in my lap. She just threw up that once but it explained why she was so fussy at Grandma and Grandpa's the day before. We all thought maybe it was just her cold that caused her to get sick.
We were all wrong. Early Friday morning, otherwise known as Black Friday, at 2am in the morning Hayden threw up while in bed. Then it struck Nana as well. By Saturday it had taken out Andy and Papa.
Turns out in the end the only two still standing were Heidi (my sister) and myself.
We did manage to have some fun. Hayden got to go to the Children's Museum in Milwaukee with Grandma and Grandpa and his Daddy. We also made a trip to Auntie Heidi's house and tried to get a picture with Santa. Hayden wasn't a fan this year, but Madelynn had fun sitting on Santa's lap.

November and the Holidays

It is that time of year where we look forward to the holidays and spending time with family. Hayden is excited to head to WI in a few days. Every day when he gets up he asks how many days till we go to Papa and Nana's house (that is where we stay). It will be fun to have a change of pace for a few days.
We will leave on Saturday after Hayden's swim lessons. Hayden is loving swim lessons and looks forward to it each Saturday morning. I love to hear the excitement in his voice when he gets back and tells me what he has learned.
Happy Thanksgiving to those of you we won't see during our trip to WI. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving day.

My How Maddy's Grown

While I realize Madelynn is growing everyday, some days it just hits me. She will take a nap and I swear when she wakes up she has grown. She is a very different baby from Hayden in some aspects and in others they are so similar. Hayden and Madelynn were/are both such easy going babies, I truly feel blessed for that. But we have seen that Maddy is much more vocal than Hayden. Surprising I know, since Hayden is such a talkative child now. When he was a baby he didn't babble a lot or at least not as loudly as Madelynn does. Maddy loves to talk, especially in the morning. I wonder if she is louder to compete with her big brother Hayden:)
Maddy also is trying her hardest to try to learn to sit up, she is sitting in her swing right now and trying to sit up to grab her keys. Hayden was always happy to lay back and take things in. Madelynn would rather be in the middle of the action. She is happiest standing or sitting. When she's on her tummy she actually tries to get her knees under her, not sure if that is just more comfortable for her or if she's trying to make a break for it. Both Hayden and Madelynn love to giggle. Hayden can get Maddy to giggle pretty easily.
It is such a joy to watch both of them grow and learn.

More of Hallowen weekend

Here are just a few more Halloween pictures. It was a perfect night for trick or treating, Hayden didn't have to be bundled up in a jacket. It was in the low 60's high 50's that night. Thanks to Papa who stayed at the house to hand out candy, it was fun to be able to go trick or treating wth Hayden. He's at such a fun age since he really got into Halloween this year. Hayden brought home a big loot of candy, between his preschool party, the fire station and trick or treating, he has candy to last him for a good long while.
On our way back from the fire station.

Halloween

Hayden loved Halloween this year. He was a Transformer, called Bumble bee. Transformers is an action figure that transforms from a robot into a car. I know he doesn't look like a bumble bee, he's called that b/c he's yellow.
Papa and Nana came up on Thursday afternoon and stayed thru Sunday, we had such a fun time with them. Andy and I got to get out and go to the movies (something we rarely do) and run some errands without the kiddos. Thursday morning Hayden knew Papa and Nana were coming that day so he decided to wait by the front door, he brought a pillow and set up camp right by our front doors where he could look out. I finally convinced him that it would be awhile so he should come downstairs in the basement with me and play. It was cute to see that he was so excited.
Friday morning Hayden had his preschool Fall party. Nana came with me when it was time for the party and every child had at least one parent with them, it was a busy place. I dont' know who had more fun Nana or Hayden:) Hayden certainly had fun. In the afternoon Papa and Hayden went to the park. By 5pm we headed to our local fire station. They put on a Halloween party where the kids can play games for candy, go down a big inflatable slide and go in a haunted house (which we didn't do). Madelynn slept pretty much the entire time we were there but she looked cute in her pumpkin outfit. After that we came back and waited to go trick or treating. Hayden kept saying "is it time yet? can we go?" After he trick or treated he had fun handing out candy as well. Needless to say the next day he was still a little tired. But he still managed to go to the park with Papa and play with Papa and Nana.

Hayden is the one in the yellow, he made a bee line to sit right near his teacher Ms Kim, even though he was the last one in the room. Nana and I sat in the back for this circle time.

Madelynn at 3 months old

Madelynn is now 3 months old. She weighs a little over 13 lbs and is about 24 inches long. She loves to watch her big brother and wants to be right in the middle of it all. She prefers to stand up a lot but also loves just to sit up and watch. We think she will really enjoy the exersaucer once she is just a little bit older. Maddy adores her brother Hayden more every day. Hayden loves his little sister too and lets me know every day, I love to watch them interact.
